American Informatics
by John Shoemaker, is an organization that approaches research and consulting from a systems perspective. With a full-range of research, training, and consulting services, American Informatics, is able to work with clients to develop systemic solutions that address real problems.
In 1993, Tina Shoemaker joined American Informatics as a principal in the company. With an extensive background in health care and organizational development, Tina has added a new dimension to the organization's portfolio of services.

John received his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky after completing his doctoral research at the University of Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has taught public administration, quality management systems, statistics, research methodology, marketing research and project management at a number of colleges and universities including Kansas State University and the University of Kansas. Since leaving full-time academic employment, he has held a number of positions in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.



For the last fifteen years much of his work has focused on organizational improvement. He served as the Director of the Kansas Center for Performance Excellence for seven years. During this period, he helped numerous organizations develop performance improvement programs designed to improve efficiency and increase profitability. In 2004 and 2007 he served on the Board of Examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program.

John also has extensive experience in the field of project management. He has conducted more than 175 project management seminars over the last ten years throughout the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom. In addition to project management seminars, he does contract project management and project mangement consulting.

He is a member of the American Society for Quality and the Project Management Institute and is retired from the Air National Guard.

Tina S. Shoemaker, MHA, CHE

Tina Shoemaker has worked in health system development for the last 30 years. She has provided organizational development and health system development services to rural hospitals, home health organizations, long-term care organizations, physician offices, and rural health provider coalitions in Kansas and the region.

Prior to her work with American Informatics, Tina was a Senior Consultant for Rural Health Consultants of Lawrence, Kansas. From 1989 to 1993 she was a member of the administrative team at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. In 2006, she served on the Board of Examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. She currently does consulting for a number of rural hospitals where she provides training and consulting on the use of the Baldrige Criteria. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Performance Excellence, a coalition of State Quality Award Programs.

Mrs. Shoemaker has a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. She is a Diplomat in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
